Historical Höfði, building Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, The Old Town, Stunning view over Reykjavík city from Perlan, Dome Hallgrímskirkja church, Presidental residence at Bessastaðir, Ölgerðin Brewery
Come with us on this educational and entertaining tour of Iceland's capital - Reykjavík city. We will show you where it all started as the first settler Ingólfur Arnarson chose his farmstead in the 9th century. After visiting some of the landmark buildings and historical sites in the city we will round the tour up with a visit to the oldest brewery in Iceland, Ölgerðin.
Höfði, the house that hosted the all-important summit between USA and USSR where Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev met to end the cold war in 1986 will be first on our list.
Next we will visit Harpa concert hall and conference centre located right next to the old city harbour. A building awarded with the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award in 2013.
From Harpa we will drive to the City Hall where we will stop so we can go on a short walk with you over to the Parliament building and give you the opportunity to take a picture of the building that appeared so often in the news from Iceland during the financial crisis here in 2008. The Parliament building is located by Austurvöllur square, a small square in the city center where the public often gathers to celebrate, protest, or to just relax and enjoy when the weather is nice.
Hallgrímskirkja church and Perlan glass dome with its viewing platform will be visited before we head out to Bessastaðir which is the official residence of the President of Iceland.
After touring the city we will get the chance to enjoy a little bit of the beer culture in Iceland as we visit the oldest brewery in Iceland, Ölgerðin, for some beer tasting.
